Making Your First Survey With AI
As a Pro user you can use generative AI for survey creation! This powerful tool utilizes advanced AI technology to help you create engaging, effective, and intelligent surveys. With this feature, you can generate survey questions tailored to your specific needs, saving you time and effort. To create a survey with AI, follow these simple steps:
Getting Started
- Log in to your account.
- Click on the green New Survey button at the top of the page.
- A pop up will open where you will need to enter a survey title in the first input field (this is required).
- Choose to have email addresses as Optional, Required or None in the Email drop down.
- If you’d like, enter a welcome message in the Welcome Message input, this will be the first thing your survey participants see.
- Click Create with AI
- On the next screen, in the first input, enter the purpose of your survey. For the best results follow the following guidelines
- Be Specific: The more specific your prompt, the more relevant and accurate the generated questions will be. Instead of using a broad topic like "customer service", try something more specific like "customer service in the food delivery industry". If you need any specific questions be sure and include them, for example: "Include survey questions about employees' work schedules, their ability to disconnect from work during non-work hours, their levels of stress and burnout, and their overall satisfaction with their work-life balance".
- Use Clear and Concise Language: Avoid using jargon, acronyms, or complex language. The AI will generate better questions if it understands your prompt clearly.
- Define the Purpose: Make sure your prompt reflects the purpose of your survey. If you want to gather feedback about a product, for example, your prompt should clearly state that.
- Consider the Audience: Keep your target audience in mind when crafting your prompt. The questions generated should be appropriate and relevant to the people who will be taking the survey.
- Ask Directly: Instead of beating around the bush, ask directly about what you want to know. For example, instead of "thoughts on our new website", you could say "feedback on the usability of our new website".
- If you need help with your prompt click on example prompts and use one of the many examples.
- There are two optional fields where you can describe your target audience and your business or organization. These fields are not required but you may find them useful for crafting more appropriate survey questions.
Review and Customize
After creating your survey with AI you'll be taken to the Survey Question List page where you can go through all your questions and edit them to suite your needs. While the generative AI feature is designed to create relevant and effective survey questions, it's important to remember that AI has its limitations. The AI can generate questions based on patterns and data it has been trained on, but it may not fully understand the nuances of your specific survey topic or audience.
Therefore, it's crucial to review and customize the generated questions to ensure they meet your needs and expectations. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Relevance: Check if the generated questions are relevant to your survey topic and objectives. If not, you can edit them or generate new ones.
- Clarity: Make sure the questions are clear and easy to understand. If needed, rephrase them or add more context.
- Bias: Look out for any potential bias in the questions. The AI may unintentionally generate leading questions or use language that could influence responses.
- Appropriateness: Ensure the questions are appropriate for your target audience. Consider their knowledge level, cultural background, and any other relevant factors.
- Formatting: Check the formatting of the questions. Make sure they are consistent and visually appealing.
- Testing: After customizing your questions, test your survey in preview mode to make sure everything works as expected.
While the generative AI feature can significantly speed up the survey creation process, it's not perfect. Always take the time to review and customize the generated questions to ensure they are relevant, clear, unbiased, appropriate, and properly formatted. This will help you collect more accurate and useful data from your survey.
